This project is a collaboration with SUMH (an umbrella organisation for and by young people with disabilities). From them, I gained the insight that many young people with impaired vision and cognitive challenges don’t go out because it’s difficult to find their way around. I created the app called ALICE that functions as a personal assistant for wayfinding. It is designed to empower people with visual or cognitive disabilities to navigate during daily tasks independently. Made with the 2025 EU accessibility law and WCAG standards in mind, it addresses challenges such as overstimulation, unpredictable routes, and difficulty accessing information. The app features high-contrast layouts, legible typography, intuitive icons, haptic feedback, and audio navigation. Users can customise routes, create reminders, and access contacts quickly, making the experience simple, reliable, and inclusive. A modular Figma design system ensures clarity, consistency, and flexibility across the platform, demonstrating how digital services can be both user-centered and universally accessible.
